Indonesia Digital Ecosystem (INDICO)

A digital ecosystem is an ecosystem that connects supply and demand chains in the digital industry, from producers or creators of digital products and services to users of digital products and services.

INDICO serves as an enabler in the digital ecosystem. In this case, INDICO utilizes Telkomsel's resources to develop a digital ecosystem in Indonesia. INDICO sees that Telkomsel's resources developed in the last 28 years are relevant for developing the telecommunications industry and for building businesses across sectors. In short, INDICO leverages Telkomsel's assets and capabilities around the telecom business to build a business outside of telecom. With a position as an enabler in the digital ecosystem, INDICO has aspirations to become a company that creates the best value in accelerating the distribution of society's digital economy and advancing Indonesia's digital economy.

As an enabler in the digital ecosystem, INDICO plays a strategic role, both as a holding company and a platform company.

As a holding company, INDICO nurtures its portfolio business or its subsidiaries. In this case, INDICO takes the position of a holding company that continues to encourage value creation from its portfolio. In the initial phase, INDICO focused on three sectors, namely edutech (Kuncie), health tech (Fita), and games (Majamojo). Those three have the most significant potential to boost the national digital economy.

Meanwhile, as a platform company, INDICO is building a business platform for use cases outside the telecom sector. We are exploring and developing two business platforms: digital food ecosystem (DFE) and digital goods commerce (DGC). Both have high relevance to the telecom assets that Telkomsel has built so far.

INDICO utilizes many Telkomsel assets and capabilities to develop its business.

The most relevant asset for INDICO's portfolio is a granular understanding of customer dynamics in Indonesia because Telkomsel has been serving them for decades, along with its related distribution channels. In addition, the Telkomsel brand has developed into one known and trusted by the Indonesian people and stakeholders in the digital industry. By utilizing these assets, the INDICO portfolio has an unfair advantage in growing its business compared to other startups.

Meanwhile, to build a business platform, INDICO utilizes several Telkomsel assets. Apart from sales and brand-related assets, there are also Telkomsel IoT (Internet of Things), Telkomsel DigiAds (digital advertising), and Telkomsel MSIGHT (Big Data). In the future, INDICO believes there are many relevant Telkomsel assets and capabilities to be developed with related digital ecosystems.

There are two business platforms that INDICO is currently exploring and developing: digital food ecosystem (DFE) and digital goods commerce (DGC).

DFE is a platform in the agritech sector that was incubated at Telkomsel in 2022, which INDICO has managed since the beginning of 2023. This business platform provides end-to-end solutions to build a sustainable food ecosystem foundation. The on-farm solutions utilize digital technology, enabling INDICO to create cultivation solutions with farmers to increase yields. Meanwhile, the off-farm solutions in which INDICO collaborates with distribution partners aim to open access so that farmers can sell their crops at better prices according to market demand.

DGC is a platform that integrates various digital goods from a wide array of categories on the market. The DGC platform will make it easier for digital goods producers to match their supply of goods with the right consumers through the most appropriate distribution channels. In the early stages, the digital product INDICO sold was game vouchers. In the future, INDICO aspires for this platform to become a one-stop shopping platform for all digital products.
